07 Corvette - Original Pony Car

Not toooooooo bad.. Well, at least the parts are all on the way. I look forward to repairing this one !

This car had its side removed by its former owner in Texas. I considered contacting the former owner, but only after the car is repaired. I can tell the guy babied the car. Its clean in every way, even the damaged areas are clean. There is just 25K on the odometer.

It needs a front fender, passenger door (I have the old one with all the guts) and a rear passenger side quarter. Also need a Goodyear F1 runflat tire (expensive). Both wheels on the passenger side are damaged and can be repaired but I much prefer to find tow originals and bolt them on. The A pillar needs to be pulled out as well. After that, the new body panels have to be painted and buffed out.

Once all the body work is done, the car will be taken to the highway patrol for an inspection. After it passes inspection, I'll apply for a new title. At that point the "salvage" title will be changed to a "rebuilt" title.

really, those cars are sweet. my bosses wife has an 07 with a few bolt ons and it runs real good. I think he may have a tire laying around, it would be used but with good tread, I can ask about it if your interested...

Thanks and please do ask! I need a rear wheel for the passenger side. It has to be a 19" Goodyear F1 tire for a standard C6 Corvette.

The previous owner went into a guard rail. Plastic and fiberglass don't hold up well..

LOL.. I have two other cars that are ready to "launch". I'm certain this car can be repaired in just two weeks. It would be faster if I was the one painting it.

Ill talk to him tomorrow at work, im not sure if he's wanting to keep a set around as spare or what. I know its a run flat that was stock on his wifes 07 vett.
Nice grab on the car, if for some reason you cant fix it you always have a set of kick ass seats and a perfect donor and that LS would push just about anything faster than you'd care to drive it.

He's got two 19 inch F1 tires, only about 1/3 tread on them though. They'd get you by in a pinch for a few thousand miles. shoot me a pm if your interested.

Ordered the last of the parts yesterday. Should have a "lot" of packages showing up soon. Found a bad strut rod, blown out rear shock and am missing some hardware. The damaged fiberglass areas have been repaired or removed for replacement, the rocker panel (large panel, much bigger than it looks) has arrived.

Had a miss in cylinder #3.

Traced it to the car's computer. The two massive plugs leading into the computer were severely damaged. That led to
completely re-wiring the cars computer. That's 160 wires with multiple repairs on nearly every wire that had to be soldered and shrink wrapped. No doubt, the biggest electrical repair I've ever done. It took six hours! After repairing the wires, the engine runs like a top ! On a good note, the original battery was saved!

Oh, did I mention previous owner let the oil go bad and its was low on the dipstick? Reading the "telephone book" owners manual, Chevy put Mobile 1 synthetic oil in all of the LS2 engines. All the air filters were filled with "grasshoppers". After doing a Google search on the VIN#, I found this car was last owned by a female driver in Texas. Lots of grasshoppers down there..

Even the cabin filter was nasty.

Learning more about these C6 Corvette's. The rear area located under the glass hatch is made up of a "tub". If you remove all the body panels on the car, what you end up with is an LS2 powered S-10 pickup truck.
This massive tub fiberglass part is damaged badly on this car. A call to Corvette Recycling in Utah saved the day. They looked at the photo's sent and saved me a lot of $$$ by sending a section they cut out from a tub located at their facility. Its going to be a fairly easy repair after the part arrives.

Found a set of OEM wheels on Ebay and they are on the way. After looking at the Goodyear F1 tires, the tread on a new tire isn't very deep. Reading about these tires, I learned they don't last long. Ended up ordering one new tire $$ and will run the other three tires until they wear out and then order some Michelin Pilot's.

Looking more closely at the damaged areas above the frame. The A and B pillars were moved in. This caused a nasty crack on the windshield and rear hatch lost its seal against the weatherstripping. Two hours on the frame rack and a visit from the "glass guy" will fix that!

Oh, the stereo system in these cars ROCK !

This panel will be replaced. Damn that panel glue ! That panel was hard to get off !

That looks a lot worse than in the original pics. I wouldn't think donor, but it's going to be a good bit of work. I'd love to take on a project like that. Mind if I ask what the car cost? Obviously you don't have to tell us if you don't want to.
