I need to fix my taillights before one of them falls off! Ill order the kit from LMR that has the clips and the butyl tape but last time i tried to mess wit the clips i couldnt get it to come out, anyone else ever messed with them?
also, im going to paint the insides a chrome color, do i need to prime it first?

got the lenses off and the insides were nasty but they are silver in color, might still give them a shot of chrome paint and some new bulbs. Anyone ever had good luck with putting the lenses back in? i never can get them to fit tight, might not be using the right thickness of tape...

I bought some of that butyl tape as well. The lens would stay in at first but I found myself having to keep shoving one corner back in over and over.

yeah thats what i was having to do, the outside edge always seemed to come up. wondering if it didn't have something to do with the tape being in the wrong place in the housing. Hit the passenger side with a little chrome paint today, drivers looked good.
im just trying to figure out how they did it at the factory. maybe they didnt use tape, maybe they had some kind of liquid caulk that they gooped in there to hold and seal the lenses to the housing...

Yea it was probably some RTV type material. When I pulled my original lenses off, it was more of an adhesive than a tape. Came off in globs. Resembled dried caulk.
